On Friday, the top four seeds in the Men's Singles main draw advanced to the quarterfinals. Top-seeded Thomas Brown was pushed to a third-set tiebreak but held off Shaurya Bharadwaj 6-2 4-6 1-0(7). Meanwhile second-seeded Bekhzod Rasamatov defeated Jurie Terblanche 6-3 6-1. It was the third seed Eduardo Taiguara Costa Dias moving into the final eight with a 6-0 6-4 win against Numa Lemieux-Monette while fourth-seeded Vasco Prata defeated Christian Hess 7-6 6-1.
Others who moved into the quarterfinals in the Men's Singles main draw included Jordi Domenech Castillo who was leading 6-3 1-0 when Kim Johannes Niethammer suffered an injury and was forced to retire. Elsewhere, it was Gabe Avram advancing with a 6-3 6-3 win over Alex Lepine while Mawtias Iturbe defeated Arenui Luethi 6-1 6-2. Ivan Dreycopp joined the quarterfinals after a spirted 7-5 3-6 1-0(9) win against Carson Baker.
In Men's Doubles, the teams of Rasamatov/Castillo and Avram/Bompieri advanced and will face each other on Saturday while Bharadwaj/Vass advanced and will meet Brown/Forman in the quarterfinals. Elsewhere, the team of Dreycopp/Iturbe moved in the quarters after a late night win against Bourne/J Van Wyk. The teams of Artzt/Souza Plentz and Dias/C Van Wyk will square off on Saturday after their wins on Friday.
Men's Singles in both the main and back draws will start play on Saturday at 230pm, followed by Doubles in both the main and back draws.
