Plenty of good tennis was played on the clay courts of Olde Providence Racquet Club on Friday. The weather couldn't have been better as the draw was trimmed to the round-of-16.
On the courts this on Friday evening included Thomas Brown, the top seed. Brown displayed a consistent attack with minimal errors and defeated Ignacio Sandoval Rodriguez 6-1 6-0.
Elsewhere, the second-seed and defending champion, Eduardo Dias defeated Rob Haywood 6-2 6-0. Dias' used his quickness and solid baseline game to gain the early advantage. He would maintain his quality throughout the match, and will advance to the next round.
In other action, third-seeded Matias Iturbe advanced with a 6-1 6-0 win against Maddux Johansson and fourth-seed Arsene Pougault beat Yoan Roussinov 6-1 6-1.
In a match with an abundance of impressive shot making, Jared Hiltzik defeated Edoardo Bottino 6-2 6-4.
Other second-round winners include Augustin Aran, Kim Niethammer, Johan van Wijk, Jurie Terblanche, Ivan Dreycopp, Numa Lemieux-Monette, Brett Gloria, Jan Montero Diaz, Wyatt McCoy, Frederic Schlossmann, and Paolo Bompieri,
